If it’s cotton, double the price!

The Sonata project is coming along slowly. I’m learning a lot and making notes for future sweater guidelines. The hat is finished.

Sonata hat bind off.

I’m coming to realize how difficult cotton is to work with. All the imperfections just stick out and I really don’t know what hope there is in washing them out. I’m expecting some shrinkage so hopefully…

I’m way past my deadline, which was “Whenever you can, just don’t take like 3 months…” Um Hum Right. It will be 3 months with the project in about 14 days. I definately bit off more than I could chew with this one.

What’s Left?

  • 1 bootie- seaming and weaving in ends
  • Seam left sleeve
  • Re-do sleeve cuff on left sleeve (too tight)
  • Attach button band
  • Knit button hole band and attach
  • Seam collar- if I can’t figure out how to do this right, I’ll have to knit it on.
  • Seam the sides and see if the hem cuffs aren’t too tight as well.
  • Sew on buttons
  • Do all of this without running out of yarn. (Yes, there’s the possibility of THAT too.)
  • Being that this is cotton, I really don’t know how long this will take. I spent most of the day today seaming the right sleeve. It looked like the stitches weren’t aligning right during mattress stitching so there was a lot of re-doing. All this work is making me re-think my willingness to use cotton in the store or at least double the price compensate monetarily for my inconvenience ;) .
