My First Meme- 7 Random Facts About Me

Since Little Purl of the Orient said to tag oneself, I did!

1- I caught my second son as he slid out of my body during birth. It was a defining moment for me. I was never the same.

2- I have a hard time gauging how long it takes to do something. I make to do lists that are pretty long and I think I can do everything on the list every time. Reality is I can usually only do one or two.

3- I hate shopping. My husband likes it. When we go to the mall, I feel like standing outside with the men but I feel bad for leaving so I just follow him around while he shops.

4- I’m big time into magic, the occult and the supernatural.

5- I hate having my hands get wet. This explains part of the reason I don’t enjoy cooking, too much hand washing and sticky wetness.

6- I’ve been on a two year quest to find organic, worsted weight wool that is already dyed in fabulous colors that I can purchase wholesale. If you know about any, PLEASE PLEASE let me know about it.

7- I kept a journal from when I was about 10 years old until I had children. I wrote it with the knowledge that I’d be famous one day so I explained a lot that I wouldn’t normally have had to if I was just keeping it for myself.

I don’t think anyone’s reading right now but if you are, consider yourself tagged.

Waist Packs

Waist Packs

These waist packs are a Glampyre Knits Pattern. They were intended as gifts for Holiday 2005. All that’s needed are seaming and attaching the buttons. I was recently asked about this by one of the intended recipients. OOPS!

I’m defninately planning on making one for me as I get closer to my ideal wieght/size and as I finish up all these unfinished items.

Crocheted Bunny Hat

100% Wool Bunny Hat

I believe that I started this hat in 2003. Another one from Crochet for Babies and Toddlers, I stopped short of the embroidery and the pom pom. I bought a Susan Bates Pom Pom Maker for this and I couldn’t figure it out. So this project got cast aside. I’ll finish this seeing as there’s so little left to go.

Pink Striped Baby Raglan

100% Cotton Knit Baby Sweater

Pink Striped Baby Raglan is pattern development for the store. I have quite a few skiens of Bernat Cottontots in various coordinating colors- perhaps enough for 10 sweaters of this size (3 months). Pictured above are Strawberry and Pretty in Pink. I’m excited about this one. I want to have it done by fall. There will be an intarsia star on the left side too.

Accessories from 2005

Machine Knit Hat and Gloves

In 2005 I decided that most of the people in the family would get hand-made holiday gifts. I was homeschooling with a 5 year old, 3 year old and an 8 month old. Apparently, I thought the knitting machine was magic or something. Even with a knitting machine, there’s still the very time-consuming act of seaming. Now I know why some people plan seaming with a movie and wine available. Sometimes it seems like the knitting machine does the fun part of knitting for you and leaves you with the boring part for you to do by hand. Good thing I like the clackity clack of the knitting machine. I also leave the ribbing and edging for last and do those by hand.

In the photo above there are men’s gloves and a matching hat as well as a pair of fingerless mitts. All that’s needed here is the seaming. I’ve avoided it because the yarn is really dark which means I have to sacrifice some daylight hours to do them and there are MANY ends to weave in on the gloves. The fingers were knit flat.

Next in line is the Drawsting Bag. I remember starting this one because I discovered when my third was a little baby, that the only thing I could do while nursing is browse the internet or crochet (books and magazines were too cumbersome). This project was dropped in favor of crocheted soakers.

Crocheted Drawstring Bag

I plan on finishing this since I like the construction and think I can learn from it. I don’t like the color of this yarn though so I won’t be keeping it for myself.

Finally there’s the plastic bag holder. I’ll definately finish this because I have a lot of navy scrap yarn and the need for a plastic bag holder. It probably wouldn’t even take long.
